NESCAC Field Hockey Player of the Week
Katrina Winfield - Trinity – Sr. – F – Wilmington, Del.
Winfield netted a goal in every game for the Bantams, including a pair of game-winning goals, and finished with seven points in a 3-0 week. Winfield delivered the game-winner in the 51st minute of a 2-1 win over WPI. In a 1-0 NESCAC win over Colby, Winfield potted the decisive goal and netted her third goal of the week while adding an assist in a 4-0 win over the University of New England.
NESCAC Field Hockey Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst – Junior
Sam Maynard (Charlestown, Mass.) scored four goals as the Mammoths went 1-1 last week. The forward had the only Amherst tally in a 2-1 overtime loss to Tufts and recorded a hat trick in a 9-3 win over Keene State.
Bates -
Anna Lindeis (New Canaan, Conn.) paced the Bobcats with four shots on goal last week against Babson. The junior found the back of the cage in the 35th minute, cutting the deficit to 3-2.
Bowdoin - Senior
Caroline Higgins (Weston, Mass.) set a school record with five assists in a midweek victory over the University of Southern Maine.
Colby – Goalie
Emily Loeb (Winnetka, Ill.) tallied 13 saves in a setback at Trinity, marking the second time the senior has recorded double-digit saves this season. Her 0.929 save percentage marked a career-best when seeing 10 or more shots. Loeb dropped her goals against average to 0.299 on the season.
Conn. College -
Liz Winemaster (Lake Forest, Ill.) made two starts in goal last week and surrendered only one goal while recording 12 saves. The first-year earned her first collegiate win in a 1-0 victory at Wellesley to start the week, marking Conn. College's first shutout since the 2021 season. Winemaster added a career-high 12 saves, including seven in the first half, in a 1-0 setback against Bowdoin.
Hamilton -
Hannah Dillon (Basking Ridge, N.J.) scored the game-winning goal in the first sudden-victory overtime period to lift the Continentals past the University of Rochester, 1-0. It was Dillon's first career game-winner. The senior has eight goals and 27 career points for the Continentals.
Middlebury –
Sadie LeStage (Milton, Mass.) tallied a game-winning goal and assisted on two other markers in a 3-0 week for Middlebury. On Saturday against Hamilton, LeStage dished out helpers on the first two Panther goals. The senior followed up with the game-winning tally in a 3-2 victory over Babson on Sunday.
Tufts –
Hannah Biccard (Cape Town, South Africa) was a key figure in Tufts' wins over MIT (3-2) and Amherst (2-1 OT) last week to remain undefeated (4-0, 2-0 NESCAC) early in 2023. The sophomore had a goal and two assists for four points and led Tufts with 11 shots. Biccard scored the first goal and assisted the second as Tufts took a 2-0 lead in the first 12 minutes of the game against MIT on Tuesday. After falling behind 1-0 to Amherst, Biccard assisted the goal that tied the game at 1-1 with less than three minutes remaining in regulation. The Jumbos went on to win in overtime.
Wesleyan -
Georgia Adams (Andover, Mass.) produced a nine-point week with four goals and one assist as the Cardinals went 2-1 in non-conference action. Adams started with a career-high five points including her first career multi-goal game in a 5-0 win at Clark. The sophomore followed with one goal in a thrilling 3-2 win over Roger Williams and scored in Saturday's 3-1 loss to Bryn Mawr. Adams has scored six goals in the last four games for Wesleyan, moving up to second place among the NESCAC leaders in goals this season.
Williams –
Claire Colvin (Winchester, Mass.) tallied five points on three goals and one assist in a 2-0 week for the Ephs. In a 5-2 triumph over Bryn Mawr Sunday, Colvin tallied two goals and one assist. The first-year recorded one goal in a 6-3 win over Smith on Wednesday.
