NESCAC Women's Track & Field Honors Announced

HADLEY, Mass. – Wesleyan senior Grace Devanny, Amherst first-year Arissa Grace McGowan, and the Middlebury coaching staff along 2023 NESCAC Women's Track & Field Individual Awards.

Devanny was voted as the Sabasteanski Award (Most Outstanding Performer) recipient. She posted four combined first-place finishes at the NESCAC Championship meet to help Wesleyan to post its highest team finish since 2003. Devanny won the 200m and 400m races while also helping the Cardinals to first place in both the 4x100m and 4x400m relays. Devanny became just the third athlete in NESCAC history to win both the 200m and 400m events in the same season and is the first Wesleyan athlete to win the Sabasteanski Award.

McGowan was voted as the NESACAC Most Outstanding Rookie and is the second consecutive Mammoth to garner the accolade and the fourth Amherst athlete overall. McGowan won the women's 100m hurdles in her NESCAC Championship debut and helped the Mammoths claim third place in the team standings for its best team finish since 2008.

The Middlebury staff was selected as the NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year for the second season in a row as the Panthers won the NESCAC title for the second consecutive season and fourth time overall. The recognition includes head coach Martin Beatty and assistants Nicole Wilkerson, Bruce Ingersoll, Luke Hotte, Peter Kim, Jason MacCallum, Michael Pallozzi, and Kevin Chu. This season marks the fifth time a Panther Coach/Coaching Staff has been honored since 2003.
