NESCAC Men's Track & Field Honors Unveiled

HADLEY, Mass. – Tufts junior Luke Botsford and the Jumbos' coaching staff along with Amherst first-year Jordan Harrison have earned 2023 NESCAC Track & Field Individual Awards.

Botsford was voted as the Sabasteanski Award (Most Outstanding Performer) recipient. A three-time All-NESCAC performer, Botsford won the 200m and 400m races for the second straight year to score 20 points towards Tufts' 171 total points as the Jumbos won the NESCAC title for the second consecutive season. Botsford is the fifth athlete to win the honor in back-to-back years and the first since 2014 and 2015 and the fourth Jumbos.

Harrison was voted as the NESACAC Most Outstanding Rookie. He was the NESCAC Champion in the 100m and placed third in the 200m in his NESCAC Championship debut and earned All-NESCAC honors in both events to help the Mammoths finish third in the team standings. Harrison is the second Amherst athlete to earn the Most Outstanding Rookie honor.

The Tufts staff was selected as the NESCAC Coaching Staff of the Year for the second season in a row. The recognition includes head coach Joel Williams, associate head coach Michael Schmidt and assistants Margo Cramer, Kristin Fleagle, Stephen Fleagle, Morgan Florsheim, Ingrid GustafsonJon LeClair, and Lisa LeClair. Tufts' victory this year was by a 45-point margin. This season marks the ninth time a Jumbo Coach/Coaching Staff has been honored since 2003.
