Why did you choose to attend Hamilton?
Besides loving the academics and the athletics, one thing that sold me on Hamilton was the people. I remember meeting my future teammates and other students on my first visit, and I ended up committing not long after!
What is your dream job/career?
My dream job is to work as a PA at a hospital. I’ve always been drawn to helping and caring for others, and with my love for the sciences, I believe that is the best way to achieve it.
What extracurricular activities or service activities do you participate in?
My primary extracurricular is volunteering as an EMT on campus. As an EMT, I have a couple of shifts every week where I’m “on call” with two other EMTs. Basically, I get to carry around a radio and a first aid jump bag and respond to any emergency calls on campus at that time. As someone on a pre-PA track, I thought this would be a great way to get hands-on experience and earn clinical hours for my application (and it is!).
Looking back on your years at Hamilton, what are you most proud of?
I’m very proud of how I’ve grown as a person since high school. I think college has helped me branch out a lot, and the people I’ve met have helped me learn more about myself and become the person who I am today.
Is there anything special about your uniform number?
My number is #6, which also happens to be the day of the month I was born. It’s been my favorite number for as long as I can remember, and I also consider it my lucky number! I’ve always tried to get it as my uniform number whenever I can.
What is something you enjoy doing that you never get tired of?
I love listening to music! I feel like there are so many different songs that can fit my mood. Listening to music is also my favorite way to relax and reset after a long day.
What has been your favorite class outside of your major?
I enjoyed taking Intro to Women’s and Gender Studies. I was never given the opportunity to take a class like that in high school, so it was nice to branch out from the sciences and analyze gender culture throughout history from various perspectives.
What has been the most interesting part of your major?
As a neuroscience major, I have loved learning about the associations between a part of the brain and what it corresponds to behaviorally, specifically what happens when an individual suffers from a lesion to a certain brain region. I think it’s so fascinating how one small part of our bodies can correspond to all our movements, thoughts, emotions, and so much more!
What is the greatest lesson you have learned from being a student-athlete?
I learned to develop better communication skills. As a student-athlete, I have to make sure that I can communicate well with my coaches and professors for any academic or athletic conflicts. Communication is also a very important part of being a team player.
What is your favorite place on your campus?
This might sound cheesy, but my favorite place is the softball field. Especially when it’s sunny, there’s nowhere I’d rather spend my day than playing my favorite sport with my favorite people!
What is something you enjoy doing when not in class or competing in your sport?
One thing I enjoy doing when I have the time is reading! Especially on longer breaks, I love being able to sit down, relax, and read.
