HADLEY, Mass. – Trinity’s Mohamed Sharaf was selected as the NESCAC Men’s Squash Player of the Year in a vote of the league’s coaches. Sharaf is the first player to win the award in back-to-back seasons since Bates’ Ahmed Abdel Khalek won the honor four consecutive years. Sharaf is the first junior to garner the honor since former Trinity player Michael Craig in 2018 and this season marks the seventh year a Bantam has won the award.
Playing at the top of the ladder for the Bantams, Sharaf won his matches in the semifinals and final of the NESCAC Tournament to help Trinity win its 16th straight NESCAC title. Sharaf, who also earned a spot on the All-NESCAC First Team for the second straight year, posted a 16-4 record this season and is 33-7 in his career at Trinity.
Benedek Takacs is the third consecutive Bantam and seventh overall to earn the Rookie of the Year honor. The first-year, who also earned a spot on the All-NESCAC Second Team, went 3-0 at the NESCAC Championships and recorded a 19-2 record in his first season at Trinity.
Tufts head coach Joe Raho was honored with the NESCAC Coach of the Year award by his peers for the second time in his career (2019). Raho guided Tufts to nine wins this season and the Jumbos reached the semifinals of the NESCAC Championship.
