NESCAC Player of the Week
Ethan Davidson – Wesleyan – So. – F – Arlington, Va.
Davidson registered four points (all assists) as Wesleyan opened the season with two road wins, defeating Conn. College, 2-1, and Tufts, 5-4, in overtime. Davidson assisted on both Cardinal goals in the 2-1 win over the Camels on Friday night. He came back and dished out two more assists in Saturday's comeback win over the Jumbos. The Cardinals trailed 4-2 with five minutes left and came back to win in overtime with Davidson assisting the overtime game-winner.

Bowdoin – Junior Luke Wheeler (Golden, Colo.) scored the game-winner in overtime as the Polar Bears defeated Middlebury on Saturday.

Colby - Andy Beran (St. Paul, Minn.) tallied his first shutout of the season Friday with a 27-save performance in a 0-0 overtime draw against Middlebury. In the extra frame, the netminder turned away all eight shots from the Panthers, including a breakaway. Beran earned his first win of the season on Saturday against Williams, turning away another 28 shots in a 4-2 victory. Colby defeated the Ephs in each of their last four attempts.   

Conn. College - Senior goalie Sean Dynan (Reading, Mass.) did his best to keep Connecticut College in both games during the opening weekend, as the Camels started the year against the top two teams from a year ago. In the season opener on Friday against Wesleyan, Dynan recorded 19 saves on 21 shots, before following up with 37 saves on 40 shots against Trinity on Saturday. The senior finished with 56 saves on 61 shots, with a 2.52 goals against average and a .918 save percentage for the weekend.

Hamilton – Junior James Philpott (Calgary, Alberta) scored two goals and added an assist on the game-tying goal that forced extra time and a blocked shot in a 5-4 overtime win against SUNY Canton. The multi-goal game was the second of the defenseman's career with the Continentals. Philpott led the defense in a 3-0 win against Amherst in the season opener.

Middlebury – Senior Jake Horoho (East Greenwich, R.I.) stopped all 24 shots faced to help Middlebury play to a 0-0 overtime draw with Colby and secure 1.5 points for the NESCAC standings.

Trinity – Sophomore Devon Bobak (Northwood, Ohio) posted a pair of wins between the pipes for the Bantams to kick off the 2023-24 season, registering a .935 save percentage with 29 saves. In a 5-1 win at Tufts, Bobak notched 13 saves and then delivered a 16-save performance in a 3-1 victory at Connecticut College.

Tufts - Juniors Sami Hakkarainen (Los Gatos, Calif.) and Marek Pechr (Pilzen, Czech Republic) both scored their first collegiate goals against Wesleyan on Friday. The goals were part of a 4-0 run by the Jumbos that turned a 2-0 deficit into a 4-2 lead at the time.

WilliamsJonah Gold (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.) scored two goals in a 1-1 season-opening weekend for the Ephs. The senior scored the overtime game-winner in a 3-2 victory at Bowdoin on Friday and netted Williams' first goal in a 4-2 setback at Colby on Saturday.
