NESCAC Field Hockey Player of the Week
Audrey Pace – Wesleyan – So. – GK – Los Gatos, Calif.
In the only game of the week for Wesleyan, Pace played a crucial role in Wesleyan's shootout win over Bowdoin on Saturday that clinched the Cardinals' first NESCAC Tournament berth since 2013 and the first win over the Polar Bears since 2009. Pace matched her career-high with 14 saves, including nine stops in the fourth quarter alone, and denied Bowdoin in 5-of-6 shootout rounds.
NESCAC Field Hockey Weekly Honor Roll
Amherst –
Sam Maynard (Charlestown, Mass.) scored four goals in a 2-0 week for the Mammoths. The junior netted her third hat trick of the season in a 4-1 at WPI Thursday, then scored a critical goal in a 4-1 win over Hamilton Saturday. Maynard has a career-high 15 goals this season which ranks second in the conference.
Bates –
Anna Cote (Auburn, Maine) scored four goals in back-to-back wins over Conn. College and Williams to lead Bates to a 2-0 week. The junior scored twice in a 4-1 win over the Camels on Saturday and turned in the performance of her career on Sunday against Williams. Cote scored both Bates goals in a 2-1, come-from-behind victory. Cote's game-winner came in the 53rd minute and was her team-leading 10th goal of the season. With the pair of victories, Bates (10-4, 7-3) moved into third place in the NESCAC standings with one regular season game remaining.
Bowdoin – Senior
Faith Jennings (Ghent, N.Y.) scored the game-winning goal in the second half as the Polar Bears earned a road win at Colby.
Colby –
Lillian Kistner (Chevy Chase, Md.) assisted both of Colby's scores in the midweek setback against Bowdoin. The senior’s first assist opened the scoring halfway through the first quarter and the second helper knotted the score at 2-2 heading into the halftime break. Kistner has registered 13 or more points in each of the last three years.
Conn. College -
Sydney Cresta (Swampscott, Mass.) had a hand in all three goals as the Camels posted a 3-2 win over Roger Williams last week in non-conference action. The senior notched the game-winning goal in the third quarter with an individual effort that resulted in her third tally of the season. Cresta also finished with a pair of assists, giving her a career-high four points for the contest.
Hamilton – Senior
Hannah Dillon (Basking Ridge, N.J.) scored a goal in a setback at Amherst and is tied for the team lead with 10 points. Dillon has nine career goals and 32 career points. Junior
Delaney Grace (Halifax, Mass.) scored the Continentals' goal in a loss against Williams. Grace is tied for the team lead with five goals and 10 points this season.
Middlebury – Senior
Katie George (North Kingstown, R.I.) has recorded four or more points in three straight NESCAC contests, including five (2G, 1A) in a 6-0 win over Tufts on Saturday. The Panther has recorded two or more points in nine of 12 contests this year. George leads the conference in goals (16) and is second to fellow Panther teammate Amy Griffin in points (34).
Trinity – Senior
Jackie Frank (Longmeadow, Mass.) netted both goals for the Bantams during a 6-2 road loss at Williams.
Tufts – Sophomore
Lydia Eastburn (New Hope, Pa.) made a career-high 10 saves for the Jumbos in a setback at Middlebury in the lone game of the week for Tufts.
Williams –
Elizabeth Scarcella (Scarsdale, N.Y.) totaled three goals and one assist in a 2-1 week in NESCAC action for the Ephs. The senior scored two goals, including the game-winner in the third quarter, in a 4-2 triumph over Trinity on Saturday at Williamson Field. The midfielder also tallied one goal and one assist in a 4-1 win at Hamilton on Wednesday.
