Trinity College Hires Louis As Head Women's Tennis Coach

HARTFORD, Conn. - Trinity College Athletics has named Mike Louis as its head women's tennis coach.  Louis arrives at Trinity with a wealth of experience, most recently as head men's and women's tennis coach at Springfield College where he was names as the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Women's Tennis Coach of the Year in 2021.

"We are excited to welcome Mike to Trinity," said Trinity Athletic Director Drew Galbraith.  "His coaching, playing and recruiting experience separated him from a strong field.  We are most enthusiastic about the impact he will have on the women of our tennis program and his ability to help them grow on and off the court."

A 2005 graduate of the University of Connecticut, Louis began his coaching career at the University of Hartford in 2011 as head men's and women's tennis coach and became the head men's tennis coach at his alma mater in 2013.  Louis coached at UConn for four seasons and was an assistant coach at Quinnipiac University for one year before becoming head coach at Springfield in 2018. Louis' Pride women's team reached the NEWMAC Finals in 2021 and the NEWMAC Semifinals in 2022. He has also served as the head tennis pro and manager at the Hartford Tennis Club since 2015.

"My family and I are thrilled to be joining the Trinity College family," said Louis. "It's an absolute honor and privilege to be named head coach of women's tennis at Trinity.  I am grateful to Drew Galbraith, Kristen Noone, and the entire search committee for this appointment.  I am excited to get started and work alongside our student-athletes on a daily basis as we engage in the community, lead in the classroom, and excel on the court as a team."

Louis replaces Lori Shulman who left Trinity after seven seasons to become the head women's tennis coach at Oberlin College. Trinity women's tennis finished the 2021-22 campaign with a 7-10 overall record and in 10th place in the NESCAC.
