Why did you choose to attend Hamilton?
Throughout my college decision process, I knew I wanted to play basketball at a NESCAC school. Hamilton was one of the last schools I visited, and right after my visit, I knew it was where I belonged. The coaches and players were extremely kind, welcoming, and fun. Also, the campus is beautiful and there is a strong sense of community.
What is the best thing about being part of the NESCAC?
The best thing about being part of the NESCAC is the competitive environment. It is fun to play with and against athletes who are driven both on the court and academically.
What is your dream job/career?
My dream job/career would have to be something that incorporates both mathematics, as well as art/design. Recently, I have been very interested in interior design and/or architecture. My dream would be to create/design unique spaces that push stereotypical architectural boundaries. More generally, I know I want to pursue a career that pushes me intellectually, and well as creatively, every single day.
Looking back on your four years, what are you most proud of?
Looking back on my four years at Hamilton, there is not one moment in particular that I am most proud of. I am proud that I have been able to better myself as a student and athlete each year. I truly believe that I strived to be better every year and I think that it showed on the court, as well as in the classroom.
What is something you enjoy doing that you never get tired of?
Eating in Commons Dining Hall.
What has been your favorite class outside of your major?
My favorite class I have taken outside of my major would have to be Introduction to Photography. I was randomly placed into the course the first semester of my freshman year and it ended up being the reason I decided to pursue a minor in art. My favorite section of the course was shooting on film cameras and processing my own prints in a darkroom. Being able to develop my own film manually was fun and rewarding.
What is the greatest lesson you have learned from being a student-athlete?
The greatest lesson I have learned from being a student athlete is how to face adversity. There are a lot of challenges that come along with being a student athlete, especially in one of the most competitive conferences. I have learned how important it is to remain calm and grounded, and not be afraid to reach out for help.
What is your favorite place on your campus?
My favorite place on campus is KTSA, the building for Studio Arts and Theatre. It is my favorite place to do work because it is a very aesthetically pleasing space, with floor to ceiling windows, as well as student artwork installations that change quite frequently.
What is something interesting about you that others might not know?
Something interesting about myself that others might not know is that I come from a large family. I am the fifth of seven children, all girls. My parents and sisters are my greatest support system and favorite people in the world.
What is something you enjoy doing when not in class or competing in your sport?
Something I enjoy doing when I’m not in class or playing basketball is hanging out with my teammates. One of the many things I love about my teammates is that they are down to do just about anything. Whether it’s spending the afternoon playing spikeball, going to the French Club karaoke nights, attending weekly Juggling Club meetings, or making music in the Chapel, we are always finding something to do around campus.
