All-NESCAC Football Awards Announced

HADLEY, Mass. – Williams senior Bobby Maimaron (Duxbury, Mass.) is the NESCAC Offensive Player of the Year as voted by the league's coaches. Maimaron is the fourth Eph to garner the Offensive Player of the Year honor and first since 2010. Fellow Ephs to have earned the honor are Joe Reardon (2001 & 2002), Patrick Lucey (2006 & 2007), and Patrick Moffitt (2010).

A quarterback, Maimaron also earned a spot on the All-NESCAC First Team Offense following three All-NESCAC Second Team Offense honors in 2017, 2018, and 2019. Maimaron directed a Williams offense that led the NESCAC in scoring offense (34.1 ppg) and ranked second in total offense (412.2 ypg). Maimaron averaged 178.7 passing yards per game and totaled 1,608 yards through the air with 15 touchdowns. He ranked ninth in the league in rushing yards per game (56.4) and recorded six touchdowns on the ground.

Wesleyan junior Nick Helbig (Groton, Mass.) was voted as the NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year and repeats as an All-NESCAC First Team Defense selection. He is the second Wesleyan player to garner the NESCAC Defensive Player of the Year honor, joining Jake Bussani (2014), and is the second straight junior to earn the award. Helbig, the NESCAC Co-Rookie of the Year in 2019, contributed to a Cardinal defense that ranked third in total defense this season, limiting opponents to 6.0 yards per play. The defensive lineman totaled 50 tackles to lead Wesleyan and ranked second in the NESCAC in tackles for loss (11) and tied for second in sacks (5.5). Helbig helped Wesleyan finish the year with a 6-3 record.

Sophomores Andre Eden (Phoenix, Ariz.) of Bowdoin and Tomas Kenary (Chevy Chase, Md.) of Middlebury were selected as Co-Rookies of the Year. Eden is the first Polar Bear to earn a Rookie of the Year award and he is the first Bowdoin player to lead the NESCAC in rushing. He totaled 978 yards for the season, the third-most in a single season at Bowdoin, and averaged 108.7 per game with eight touchdowns. The All-NESCAC First Team Offense selection finished his rookie campaign with 1,041 all-purpose yards.

Kenary also earned a spot on the All-NESCAC Second Team Defense from his defensive line position. He is the second straight Panther to garner the Rookie of the Year honor and fourth overall, joining Alex Maldjian (2019), Donald McKillop (2007), and Tim Patricia (2012). Kenary led the NESCAC in sacks (7) and ranked among the conference leaders in tackles for loss (10.5) and finished the season with 38 total tackles while forcing a pair of fumbles and recovering one fumble.

Williams head coach Mark Raymond was selected as the NESCAC Coach of the Year by his peers. He earns the honor for the second time (2017) in his five years at the helm of the Ephs. Raymond guided Williams to the NESCAC title with a 9-0 season, the Ephs' first undefeated season since 2010 when they last won the conference crown.
