HADLEY, Mass. – Middlebury junior Heather Boehm (Miami, Fla.) is the NESCAC Player of the Year. She is the third Panther to garner the honor, joining Amy Roche (2007) and Lok-Sze Leung (2012 & 2013). Boehm helped the Panthers earn the No. 1 seed for the NESCAC Championship, which they hosted, and finish as the NESCAC Runner-up. Boehm is 14-1 as the top player on the Middlebury ladder as the Panthers head into the NCAA Tournament. Boehm earns her third All-NESCAC honor and moves up to the First Team after back-to-back years as a Second Team singles selection.
 
Amherst’s Jackie Bukzin (Manorville, N.Y.) is the fifth Amherst player to be named the NESCAC Rookie of the Year and second Mammoth in three years to earn the accolade. Other Amherst players to be named Rookie of the Year include Rachel Holt (2002), Kristen Raverta (2003), Jordan Brewer (2011), and teammate Camille Smukler (2017). Buzkin has a 20-6 record as the No. 1 player for the Mammoths this season. She looks to add to her win total when Amherst hosts NCAA Tournament regional action this weekend.
 
Tufts senior Tomo Iwasaki (Scarsdale, N.Y.) is the sixth Jumbo to be honored with the Senior Sportswoman of the Year award and the second player from Tufts in three years. Other honorees from Tufts include Becky Bram (2006), Julia Browne (2011), Lindsay Katz (2013), Samantha Gann (2014), and Alexa Meltzer (2017). Iwasaki has 12 wins playing at the No. 2 position for Tufts heading into NCAA Tournament play.
 
Wesleyan head coach Mike Fried was selected as the NESCAC Coach of the Year by his peers. He led the Cardinals to their first NESCAC Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. He is the first Wesleyan coach to garner the honor.
 
The Wesleyan sister-duo of Kristina and Victoria Yu (New Braunfels, Texas) are First Team honorees as singles players and a First Team doubles pairing. Victoria, a senior and the No. 1 player for the Cardinals, is 15-7 heading into the NCAA Tournament and earns her fifth All-NESCAC citation. Younger sister Kristina is 20-3 as the No. 3 player for Wesleyan. As a doubles team, the sisters have combined for a 21-6 mark.
 
Rookies Julia Marks (Menlo Park, Calif.) of Bowdoin and Venia Yeung (Hong Kong) of Wesleyan, along with senior Leah Bush (Weston, Fla.) of Williams round out the First Team singles players. Marks has 12 wins at the top of the ladder for the Polar Bears entering the NCAA Tournament, while Yeung has won 19 matches this season as the No. 2 player for the Cardinals. Bush, who was a First Team singles selection in 2017, has 10 wins at the No. 1 spot for the Ephs.
 
Joining the Yu sisters as First Team doubles pairings are sophomore Ann Martin Skelly (Charleston, S.C.) and Boehm of Middlebury and first-years Maggie Dorr (Concord, Mass.) and Caroline Garrido (Gastonia, N.C.) of Tufts. Skelly and Boehm have combined for a 14-2 mark as the top doubles team for the Panthers, while Dorr and Garrido have 11 wins as the No. 1 team for the NCAA-bound Jumbos.
