HADLEY, Mass. – Trinity rookie Miko Aijanen has been selected as the 2020 NESCAC Player of the Year and the NESCAC Rookie of the Year by the conference coaches. Aijanen is the second first-year player to earn both awards in conference history, joining Ahmed Abdel Khalek of Bates who achieved the same feat in 2013. Aijanen is the No. 1 player for the Bantams and owns a record of 16-1. This year marks the sixth time a Bantam has won the Player of the Year honor and the fifth time a Trinity player has earned Rookie of the Year. Trinity, which won its 14th straight NESCAC title this season, begins play in the CSA Men’s Collegiate National Team Championships as the No. 2 seed in the Potter Cup.
First-year Bowdoin head coach Theo Woodward was selected as the 2020 NESCAC Coach of the Year by his peers. He is the first Bowdoin coach to garner the honor in the history of the award. Woodward led the Polar Bears to a 3-1 record at the NESCAC Championship and fifth place, the highest finish for the team since 2010. Bowdoin owns a record of 10-8 and will be the seventh seed in the Summers Cup (C Division) of the CSA Nationals.
