WATERVILLE, Maine - The Colby College Women's Ice Hockey team defeated Bowdoin College in the NESCAC Quarterfinal, 2-0.
For the final time in the Alfond Rink, the Mules and Polar Bears squared off. Colby's victory seals a sweep on the season. Bowdoin finishes their season at 8-14-3, while the Mules move to 15-5-5 overall.
HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MULES:
- Lexi Cafiero scored the first goal of the postseason at 13:39 of the second period. McKinley Karpa and Tess Dupre earned the assists.
- Early in the final frame, Karpa netted the power-play goal at 4:35. Sisters Bri Michaud-Nolan and Aimely Michaud-Nolan assisted on the skater advantage.
- Nina Prunster earned yet another shutout victory in goal, stopping all 17 shots faced. Her overall record moves to 9-3-1.
HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE POLAR BEARS:
- In goal for Bowdoin, Dani Marquez made 31 saves.
- Angelina Joyce led the team with five shots.
- The team finished leading in faceoff wins 29-28.
KEY STATS:
- Cafiero collected her 20th point with the goal. (9 goals, 11 assists).
- Karpa earned her third power-play goal and 19th point.
- The penalty kill unit played stellar, holding the Polar Bears 0-for-4
