Men's Ice Hockey All-NESCAC Selections Announced
HADLEY, Mass. – Sophomore goaltender Connor Rodericks (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) of Connecticut College was selected as the NESCAC Men’s Ice Hockey Player of the Year by the conference coaches. Rodericks is the first Connecticut College player to earn the award and the second straight goaltender to be honored. Rodericks registered nine wins for the Camels and his .937 save percentage ranked second among netminders in the NESCAC.Five players across the First and Second Teams are repeat All-NESCAC honorees. Amherst, Connecticut College, Hamilton, Trinity and Wesleyan were each represented by two players.
- Hamilton junior Jason Brochu earns All-NESCAC honors for the first time. He registered 22 points on nine goals and 13 assists to lead the Continentals in scoring. All nine goals were scored in conference play.
- Wesleyan senior Dylan Holze earns his first All-NESCAC honor with a spot on the First Team. He led the league in scoring (26 points) and goals (16). He tallied two shorthanded goals and added 10 assists for the Cardinals.
- Trinity’s Anthony Sabitsky is the only member of the First Team to be named All-NESCAC multiple times. He is on the First Team for the second consecutive season and was a Second Team selection in 2016. Sabitsky tallied 22 points on 10 goals and 12 assists. Three of the senior’s 10 tallies were game-winning goals for the Bantams.
- Sophomore Liam Feeney led the NESCAC defensemen in scoring with 20 points to garner his first All-NESCAC honor. He also ranked third in the conference in assists (16). Feeney earns a spot on the All-NESCAC Team for the first time in his career.
- Junior Phil Johansson is an All-NESCAC honoree for the first time in his career. He ranked fourth among defensemen in scoring, and third for the Mammoths, with 16 points on four goals and 11 assists.
- First-year Paul Capozzi was selected as the NESCAC Rookie of the Year. He is the second Connecticut College Player to be honored, joining Greg Parker (2007). Capozzi was the leading scorer among rookies, netting 10 goals and nine assists for 19 points for the Camels.
- Connecticut College head coach Jim Ward was selected as the NESCAC Men’s Ice Hockey Coach of the Year for the second time in his 15-year career with the Camels. He was also honored in 2014. Ward led Connecticut College to a 9-5-4 NESCAC record and the No. 2 seed in the NESCAC Championship, the highest seed in program history.
- Connecticut College swept the major awards this season, marking just the third time a school has won all three awards.
