NESCAC Women's Golf All-Conference Teams Released
HADLEY, Mass. – Williams golfer Cordelia Chan (Windsor, Ontario) has been selected as the NESCAC Player of the Year as voted on by the league’s coaches. The junior was the runner-up at the 2017 NESCAC Championship (149) and finished in the top two in each of the Ephs’ tournaments this fall. She took home medalist honors at the Mount Holyoke Invitational (145) and the Ann S. Batchelder Invitational (148). Chan joined four other golfers on the All-NESCAC First Team, while five golfers were voted to the All-NESCAC Second Team.
- Williams, Amherst, and Middlebury each placed three golfers on the All-NESCAC First and Second teams. Hamilton was also represented.
- Middlebury’s Katharine Fortin, a senior, earns her third selection to the First Team in as many years. She was the medalist at the George Phinney Golf Classic after shooting a 156 and turned in two additional top-ten finishes.
- The 2016 NESCAC Player of the Year, senior Elizabeth Gudas was recognized as a first-team selection for the second straight year. She earned medalist honors at the 2017 NESCAC Championship with a two-day score of 147.
- First-year Isabelle Ouyang of Amherst was selected as the 2017 NESCAC Rookie of the Year and named to the First Team. She finished second at the George Phinney Golf Classic (157) and carded three additional top-ten finishes.
- Last year’s NESCAC Rookie of the Year, Amherst sophomore Morgan Yurosek earns All-NESCAC First Team honors for the first time after being selected to the Second Team in 2016. She was the runner-up at the Ann S. Batchelder Invitational (151) and turned in two additional top-five performances this fall.
- Middlebury sophomore Chloe Levins carded two top-ten finishes to earn All-NESCAC Second Team honors. She was named to the First Team in 2016.
- Senior Phoebe Mattana, the 2015 NESCAC Player of the Year, was a consistent golfer for the Ephs during the fall. She carded two top-five finishes this fall and is a three-time All-NESCAC honoree, having previously been named to the First Team in 2015 and 2016.
- Winda Wanikpun is only the second Hamilton player to earn All-NESCAC honors. The sophomore was the medalist at the Continentals’ home tournament with a 162 and turned in top-20 finishes in three other events this fall.
- Mammoth senior Zoe Wong earned her first All-NESCAC honor of her carer with a spot on the Second Team. She had a fifth-place finish at the Ann S. Batchelder Invitational (156), followed by two ninth-place finishes in her next two events.
- Blake Yaccino was a solid performer on the links all season for the Panthers. The sophomore turned in top-20 finishes in each event, culminating in fifth place at the NESCAC Championship (155) to earn Second Team honors.
- Amherst’s Elizabeth Davis was selected as the NESCAC Coach of the Year for the first time in her career. Davis led Amherst to finishes in the top three for each event they competed in. Her Mammoth squad took first place in both the George Phinney Golf Classic and the Ann S. Batchelder Invitational and finished as runner-up for the NESCAC Championship.
