Clark Earns Player and Rookie of the Year Honors

HADLEY, Mass. – Amherst first-year Cameron Clark (Dallas, Texas) was named the NESCAC Player of the Year following the NESCAC Men’s Golf Championship Qualifier hosted by Middlebury this past weekend. The annual honor is given to the individual who finishes first at the championship qualifier. Clark was also selected as the NESCAC Rookie of the Year by virtue of being the highest placing rookie

Placement on the NESCAC Men’s Golf All-Conference Team is based on individual performance at the qualifier.

  • Cameron Clark fired a 69 to sit atop the leaderboard after day one of the qualifier. He added a round of 70 to finish with a two-day total of 139 and was one of two players under par for the tournament. Clark is the fourth golfer in conference history to be named NESCAC Player and Rookie of the Year, joining Middlebury’s Scott Guidotti (2015), Trinity’s Reid Longley (2006), and Williams’ Nick Ryder (2004).
  • Four Williams golfers earned All-NESCAC recognition, while Amherst and Middlebury had three all-conference players each.
  • Sophomore Will Rosenfield of Trinity carded the lowest round of the tournament, shooting a 68 on the second day. He finished as the runner-up with a 36-hole total of 140 and joined Clark as the only other player to finish the tournament under par.
  • Middlebury senior Rodrigo Andrade improved from last year’s qualifier, moving from All-NESCAC Second Team to the First Team this season, after placing third overall with a score of 143.
  • Jack Junge and Tom Dunleavy posted matching scores of 144 to tie for fourth. Dunleavy, a first-year student, is the first Bowdoin golfer to earn a spot on the All-NESCAC First Team since Jeff Cutter in 2008.
  • Williams teammates Grant Raffel, the 2014 NESCAC Player of the Year, and Will Kannegieser posted two-day totals of 145 to tie for fifth overall.
  • Liam Fine took sole possession of eighth place at the qualifier with rounds of 73 and 74 over the two days.
  • Jack Burlison, Owen Elliott and Philippe Morin finished in a tie for ninth with identical scores of 148.
  • There was a four-way tie for the final spot on the All-NESCAC Second Team as Joe Tigani, Reid Buzby, Ross Hoffman and Sam Goldenring all finished with a score of 149.
  • For the first time in his career at the helm of Williams, head coach Josh Hillman was selected as the NESCAC Coach of the Year by his peers. Hillman helped the Ephs finish first at the NESCAC Men’s Golf Championship Qualifier for the first time since 2011.
