Trinity Holds Off Colby in Men's Ice Hockey Semifinals, 2-1

WATERVILLE, Maine - Sixth-seeded Trinity scored
two goals in the opening period and made them stand up as the
Bantams took a 2-1 win over top-seeded Colby in the semifinals of
the 2008 NESCAC Men's Ice Hockey Championship at Alfond Rink.
Trinity (14-10-2) advances to Sunday's 1 p.m. title game at Colby
against either Amherst or Middlebury.
Trinity advances to the championship game for
the first time since the 2004 season.
Wesley Vesprini (Lexington, Mass.) made 16 of
his 36 saves in the final period for Trinity.
Adam Houli scored 3:35 into the first period off
a breakaway to get the Bantams off to a quick start.
Christopher Diozzi (Belmont, Mass.), who had an
assist on Houli's goal, tallied at 12:59 on the power play off
passes from Riley Hicks (Calgary, Alberta) and Daniel Maturi (North
Kingstown, R.I.).
The Mules (15-9-1) got a power play goal of
their own at 4:53 of the second period when defensemen Joe Rothwell
(Unionville, Ontario) tallied on a blast from the point. Arthur
Fritch (South Boston, Mass.) and Josh Reber (Edina, Minn.) had
assists on the play.
Colby goalie Cody McKinney (Weston, Fla.) made
28 saves.
