Trinity Women, Williams Men Win 2004 NESCAC Rowing Championships

HARTFORD, Conn. - Trinity College earned an automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Women's Rowing Championship after finishing as the top NESCAC women's varsity eight at the  Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC)/National Invitational Collegiate Regatta (NICR) Sunday on Quinsigamond River in Worcester, Mass.

Trinity won the Petite Final with a time of 7:05.95. Williams placed fifth with a time of 7:10.46. Colby and Bates raced in the third level final and finished first and second respectively.

Trinity will be one of six Division III schools to compete in the NCAA Championships hosted by Cal-State Sacramento on May 28-30 in Rancho Cordova, Calif. The rest of the Division III field will be announced Tuesday, May 11.

Williams College earned the NESCAC Men's Rowing title after finishing as the top NESCAC men's varsity eight at the  Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC)/National Invitational Collegiate Regatta (NICR) May 9 on Quinsigamond River in Worcester, Mass.

Williams finished fourth in the Grand Final in a time of 6:03.90. The University of North Carolina won the race in a time of 5:59.79. Trinity placed fifth in the Petite Final with a time of 6:06.37. Bates (6:05.14) edged Wesleyan (6:06.45) for third place in the third level final.
