Trinity Advances Past Colby in Men's Ice Hockey Semifinals, 4-2

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - For the third straight season, Trinity will meet Middlebury in the NESCAC Championship game. The Bantams earned the right with three unanswered goals in the third period to beat Colby, 4-2. Middlebury defeated Hamilton 3-1 earlier in the day to return to the finals. The title game is set for Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

Colby took a 1-0 lead at 12:42 as Evan Kearns redirected a shot from Todd O'Hara to give the Mules a 1-0 lead. Trinity answered just 1:42 later as Ryan Stevens took a great feed from Richard Masucci on a two-on-one break before snapping it into what was almost an open net. The Mules took a 2-1 lead at 6:25 of the third period as Brian Chisholm made a nice drop pass to John Halverson who snapped one in the top left corner. As they did on the first Colby goal, Trinity answered right away, this time just 26 seconds later with a snap shot from the left wing by John Halverson. With the game tied at two, the Bantams struck again just 1:47 later as Adam Ladd beat Colby netminder Chris Reis from the right face-off circle with a shot through the five hole. The Bantams scored their third goal of the period at 15:33 as Ladd beat Ben Grandjean, who had come on in relief of Reis.

Douglas Kiselius made 26 saves in goal for Trinity, while Reis made 14 stops for Colby in 54:29.
