Middlebury’s Kapus Named Player of the Year
HARTFORD, Conn. – Senior forward Angela Kapus of Middlebury was named 2002-03 NESCAC Women’s Ice Hockey Player of the Year in a vote by the conference coaches. Kapus, who leads the nation in assists per game (1.48 apg) and is ranked second in the country in points per game (2.22 ppg), will lead the fourth-ranked Panthers into the NESCAC Tournament semifinals at Bowdoin this weekend. Middlebury (17-2-4) will face seventh-ranked Williams (16-7-2) on Saturday, March 8 at 4:00 p.m.
Kapus’ teammate, senior defender Amber Neil makes her second consecutive appearance on the all-conference first team. Neil, who ranks second in the league with a team-leading 19 goals this season, leads the nation in power play goals with 11.
Bowdoin placed a trio of seniors on the all-conference first team.
