Hamilton Takes 6-3 Decision Over Bowdoin in Men's Ice Hockey Quarterfinals

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Hamilton
College men's ice hockey team skated to a 6-3 win over Bowdoin
College in the NESCAC First-Round on Saturday. With the victory,
Hamilton advances to play in the NESCAC Semifinals next weekend,
with pairings pending the Saturday night result between Middlebury
and Tufts.
Hamilton got on the board first on
a powerplay goal by Erik Kallio at 5:10 of the first. Bowdoin
evened things up just three minutes later on a powerplay score from
Jon Landry. The Continentals proceeded to score four straight goals
from 16:57 of the first until 11:53 of the second, putting the
contest out of reach. Consecutive scores by Craig Kennedy, Kallio,
Gus Katsuras and Steve Aubuchon during the streak gave Hamilton a
5-1 edge late in the second.
Bowdoin added late goals from
Albert Mayer and Sean Starke, while Hamilton got an empty-netter
from Rob Gordon to close out the game. Gabe Tash made 35 saves for
the Continentals, while Mike Healey (9 saves) and George
Papachristopolous (8 saves) shared time in net for the Polar Bears.
