Trinity Earns 3-2 Win Against Bowdoin in Men's Ice Hockey Semifinals

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. - Ryan Stevens put home a rebound after a Jeffrey Griffin shot 9:45 into overtime to lift Trinity to a 3-2 win over
Bowdoin in the NESCAC semifinals. The Bantams advance to take on Middlebury, who was a 4-2 winner over Colby, in tomorrow's NESCAC Championship game at 1:00 p.m. The Polar Bears (18-4-3) will hope for an at-large bid when NCAA pairings are announced tomorrow night.

Trinity opened the scoring at the 14:07 mark as Martins Lans hit Jeffrey Natale with a lengthy pass as Lans walked in all alone for the shorthanded breakaway goal. Bowdoin answered just 55 seconds later with a power play goal as John Starke scored on a rebound after a shot from Michael Carosi. The game remained a 1-1 until the 8:31 mark of the second period when Joseph Ori took an odd deflection off the boards and stuffed the puck home on the short side. Bowdoin again answered right back just 1:17 later as Matt Kovacich took a feed from behind the net by Adam Mackie and found the back of the net. Both teams had some chances in the third period, including a goal waved off for Bowdoin that was kicked into the net. Bowdoin ended regulation with a 32-27 shot advantage. Geoffrey Faulkner made 34 saves in goal for Trinity, while Mike Healey made 28 saves for Bowdoin.
