NESCAC Cross Country All-Conference Teams Released

HARTFORD, Conn. – The top-ranked Middlebury women’s cross country team and Williams men’s cross country team each placed several members on the All-NESCAC Cross Country teams.

Junior Jessica Johnston earned medalist and Most Outstanding Performer honors as Middlebury captured the women’s championship race. Johnston was joined on the first team by senior teammate Kasie Wallace, while three other Panther women earned second-team all-conference recognition.

Three other seniors earned first-team All-NESCAC honors in the women’s race. Leslie Crofton of Tufts, who finished second individually, Kate Nelson of Hamilton, and Joey Shapiro of Williams all finished among the top seven to receive first-team recognition. Rounding out the women’s first team was sophomore Julia Bensen of Williams and sophomore Jenn Cammarano of Hamilton.

Senior Stephen Allison of Bowdoin earned medalist and Most Outstanding Performer honors in the men’s championship race. Three runners from NESCAC men’s champion Williams earned first-team all-conference recognition. Seniors Tim Campbell and Dusty Lopez of the Ephs finished second and third in the championship race. Joining them on the first team was sophomore teammate Andy Golden.

Other runners who finished among the top seven and received first-team All-NESCAC honors were senior David Patterson of Tufts, senior Todd Markelz of Trinity, and sophomore Todd Forsgren of Bowdoin.

Molly Yazwinski of Middlebury and Nat Brown of Colby each earned second-team all-conference recognition and NESCAC Rookie of the Year honors in women’s and men’s cross country, respectively. Middlebury head coach Terry Aldrich was named NESCAC Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year. The NESCAC Men’s Cross Country Coach of the Year honor was shared by Bowdoin coach Peter Slovenski and Williams coach Peter Farwell.
